Specimen Type

Catheterized or midstream specimens are satisfactory. Catheterized specimens are collected by nursing service, midstream specimens are collected after proper cleansing of the genitalia.

Unpreserved urine must be received by lab within 4 hours of collection. Specimens not able to be delivered promply must be preserved or refrigerated immediately and delivered within 24 hours.
