Specimens can be transported to the lab in at 2°C to 30°C in a sterile urine cup. Urine specimens must be transferred into the urine specimen transport tube within 24 hours of collection.

Urine volume greater than 30 mL, or less than 20 mL

Cervical, endocervical, vaginal, urethral, oral, and rectal: no patient prep required.

 

For urine specimens, must not have urinated for at least one hour and must be the initial 20 mL of urine. Trichomonas not performed on oral, esophageal, anal, or rectal specimens, order CT/GC only.
