Ordered when transfusion is also being requested at the same time. Needs to be drawn by trained hospital associate using a Blood Bank Band and computer functions PPID and PAID. Blood Bank band must be on both the tube used for testing as well as the patient. Two blood types must be confirmed before crossmatched units will be available. Before transfusing a current Hgb/HCT must be performed by the transfusing facility. Order for component is also needed which is RBC Leukocyte Reduced Bleeding or RBC Leukocyte Reduced Non Bleeding.
